My good friend, Barry, pointed me to an excellent article in the New York Times, which is accessible after a free registration on the site. The article talks of how "the line between philanthropy and business is blurring." Terms that I have heard related to this concept include social capitalism, social entrepreneurship, poverty through profits, and now, philanthropreneurship. I plan to refer to the concept as social capitalism as I explore this idea in the future.
