Microfinance Funds

A recent Financial Times article titled When Philanthropy Meets Profitmaking mentions some funds in which investors can make a social investment. For example, Accion International requires a minimum of $2,000 for 18 months, providing up to a 1.625 percent return. The Calvert Foundation requires a $1,000 minimum investment and returns up to 2.0 percent. Both organizations won the Fast Company Social Capitalist Award, which is where I first remember hearing about them. Accion is also a Charity Navigator 4-Star Charity.
