Vaccinating the World

I came across an interesting BusinessWeek article titled Vaccinating the World. Since drug companies currently typically don't have financial incentives to create therapies to fight third-world health problems, Italy, Britain, Canada, and Norway, Russia, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are teaming up to guarantee $1.5 billion in funding for developing nations to purchase drugs. The hope is that this newfound purchasing power will make the large markets of untreated diseases a more attractive to drug companies.
